happy after half a year in Switzerland I am a relaxed journey, of course with the cargo ship - after ALICANTE CARRIER Antwerp Moin , the fruit of Port Costa - Rica.
But with the relaxation was not for the present one. Just a few miles to Le Havre, the lake heavier and heavier, and it developed a storm, just as you would like to experience it once and then when he is there, wants a quieter place.
The waves were getting higher and higher, the rocking of the ship and more violent. The waves reached a height finally 11-13 feet and rolled off the deck. The ship, but at least 158 meters long and 26 meters wide heeled to 34%. This storm lasted a full 72 hours. For all those who have never experienced a storm on a cargo ship ...... So for almost all of them :-) I can even describe the way it feels. Imagine you are in an express elevator and färst 72 hours from the floor in the ninth floor and back again, and the whole not just up and down but in a statement. If one is not sea-sickness is indeed very funny, at least a few hours. But it is also demanding. To eat as we leaned back against the wall, feet about a meter away from the wall and held the plate in one hand, in the other, the cutlery. This was because the table we had a problem, either we had the dishes keep it from sliding to the ground ..... but then tipped our chair and we went to kiss the ground threat ..... could stop or we had our table so that the chair does not tip over, but the table was cleared faster than this is the Stewart. So we decided for the wall. We passengers had a lot of fun. From the team could not really say. Not only is the case of such a swell time actually sleeping can forget all came as a very different problem at all. In the engine room fire broke out. Nothing special in-itself, only this time it was inflicting a really big fire that also a corresponding loss. Just because the storm the captain of the SPEED of 21, has cut back to 10 miles. But now our ship made the fire temporarily rudderless. The captain took another away trip and everything we have been parsing rate of 5 miles a plaything of the waves and the storm.
In the picture above right shows how the room of my little apartment on the Alicante Carrier looked after the storm.
After the storm had subsided and all damage was fixed, we could enjoy the trip in beautiful weather after all. Once again, we have experienced the eerie power of nature and have gained an impressive and unforgettable experience.
